St Luke’s annual Santa Dash event took place on Sunday 11 December. Men, women, children and even dogs on leads dressed in Santa suits and set off at 11am on a 3.5 mile walk around Harrow. Over 250 people participated in the event which started and finished at Claremont High School in Kenton who kindly provided the venue as a good will gesture to support St Luke’s free end of life care services.

A group of 35 friends ranging from age 17 to 50 came together to form a team at this year’s Santa Dash event. Team member and student, Lisa Egan says, ‘Every year we participate in the Santa Dash and it’s good that we can get the men involved! We chose to support St Luke’s because some of our friends have been looked after their previously and the care there is excellent. The Santa Dash was great fun and a good way of raising money for charity! We have also supported St Luke’s by participating in the Midnight Walk and I have also raised money for St Luke’s by doing the summer skydive and the abseil off of Northwick Park Hospital. The Santa Dash was a very successful day and great fun. Altogether we raised £2400!’

Claremont High School’s Office Administrator, Mimasha Patel lives in Brent and she took part with her colleague, Sally Francis. Mimasha says, ‘The event was very well organised and it was so nice to take part and to do it with so many people involved. I decided to participate because it was a great way and a nice feeling to raise money for the Hospice as it is such a good cause.’
Based on the number of people who took part and the amount of sponsorship pledged, St Luke’s expect to raise an outstanding £10,000 from this festive fun event. We would like to say a huge thank you to Claremont school for hosting the event, Santa Claus who presented the medals, Gary Zucker for doing a lively warm up, our brilliant team of volunteers and all of our supportive Santas. Everyone involved helped to make this year’s Santa Dash a tremendous success.
