Brave supporters complete daring fire and glass walk challenge

Over 55 people walked across a bed of hot coals or razor sharp glass for St Luke’s.

St Luke’s held there Fire and Glass Walk event on Thursday 22 September. 55 daring participants received Time4Change’s empowering transformational training to prepare mind, body & soul before crossing 20 feet of wood burning embers at over 1200 Fahrenheit, or a bed of razor sharp broken glass without experiencing any pain or injury.

Harrow-based chartered accountancy firm, RDP Newmans were the sponsors of the event and twenty-six members of their staff took part in this life-changing experience. Before the event David Finn a partner with RDP Newmans said, ‘Here at RDP Newmans we are always looking at ways to give something back to the local community. St Luke’s Hospice is an extremely valued local charity which provides an amazing level of care for those in Harrow and Brent whose illnesses are no longer curable, which is why we are sponsoring this event.

The Hospice is particularly close to my heart as my secretary Brenda Hayes was a resident at the hospice recently before she passed away. We all know it is going to be extremely tough and I’m sure before the challenge the majority of our team will want to do anything but walk across hot embers or broken glass! However after two hours of motivational training I am confident every single competitor will be successful and in the mean time raising thousands of pounds for St Luke’s.’

The team at RDP Newmans all successfully completed the challenge and collectively raised an outstanding £10,000. We are extremely grateful for their support.

Dhol Players

Many spectators came along to support their loved ones on the night and enjoyed a variety of great entertainment which include fire performances, dhol drummers, DJ and plenty of refreshments.

Thank you to everyone who participated and attended our fire and glass walk event which raised over £15,000 for St Luke's.
