Discover the wonders of Harrow on the Hill on St Luke’s Treasure Trail

Solve 20 clues along a 2-mile scenic route to be entered in a great prize draw.

St Luke’s Treasure Trail provides an opportunity to discover things that you never knew about the beautiful area of Harrow on the Hill. Starting at Harrow on the Hill station, the route offers magnificent views across the southern counties. Participants can explore the area around one of London’s oldest schools, visit historic St Mary’s church with its fine brasses and see the spot where Byron wrote ‘Lines Written beneath an Elm in the Churchyard of Harrow’. There is also an opportunity for a refreshment stop at one of the fine traditional pubs and tea shops.

You can get sponsored to complete the walk, which can be completed any time up until the 22nd April. When you have solved the twenty clues correctly, enter the winning code on the internet to be entered into a prize draw for a range of fantastic prizes. There are special prizes for best photo, and an ‘I Spy’ competition for younger children.

Supporters Paul and Kathryn Robinson recently completed the Treasure Trail. Kathryn says, ‘Architecturally Harrow on the Hill is a hidden gem, so it was lovely to take the time to explore it properly. The clues were quite tricky and some of them involved looking for detail on buildings and monuments - you needed to look carefully to solve them. When you are rushing about during the week you tend not to look at things carefully, and it’s nice just to take some time to appreciate your surroundings. I am a town planner by profession so it is interesting to see how Harrow on the Hill has developed, and how the school is integrated into the landscape.’

Paul says, ‘It’s a nice way to spend a morning and there are some good pubs en route! The only snag we hit was when one of the clues had been demolished by a car! But if you get stuck you can text for help on up to 3 clues. The view from St Mary’s is amazing and the church and the school have so many historical connections. It would be a fun event to do with children (you could swap the pub stop with one of the nice tea shops), and the spy themed version for children is great.’
