Resourcing Officer

Purpose
Responsible for promoting recruitment of volunteers, and support
those who manage and work with volunteers in fulfilling the ethos of
the volunteer strategy and statement of mutual expectation.
Work in close co-operation with the Shops Company Office and line
managers throughout the hospice, and Fundraising & Community
Relations team in promoting volunteering at events and talks. and
supporting the relationship between volunteer and their line manager(s).
Reporting to: Manager, Personnel & Volunteering
Main Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Establishment and Volunteer Databases
· Predicting shortfalls in volunteers against
need, and agree with line manager what actions are required to resource
for future. (includes regular monitoring of shops volunteer cover, rota
cover, rather than numbers on the books). Identify vacant slots and
target placements and focus recruitment efforts accordingly.
B. Recruitment
1. Organise recruitment campaigns, eg posters, or
leaflet drops.
2. Undertake public speaking engagements to recruit
volunteers.
3. Investigate and recommend involvement in organised
recruitment events.
C. Welfare/Social/Community
1. In Liaison with Fundraising and Community
Relations attend appropriate events to raise the profile of the hospice
in the community and particularly promote volunteers. (Includes Schools
promotion and Duke of Edinburgh awards schemes etc.)
2. Maintain and develop links with local volunteering
bureaux organisations.
D. Training
1. Monitor and support departmental induction and
training
2. Support line managers in ensuring volunteers
attend mandatory training to comply with St Luke’s standards. (records
see database above). Provide evidence of training in response to
audits (eg Health Care Commission)
E. Research/Networking
1. Research new initiatives, schemes etc., as agreed
with Manager, Personnel & Volunteering eg. employer supported
volunteering.
2. Develop systems to support networking and contact
management.
