Meet our Volunteers

Doreen DOREEN WOLF

“I am a Volunteer Receptionist at St Luke’s Hospice as well as a volunteer at their Stanmore shop. The work involved in these two positions are completely different but I love both of them and get satisfaction knowing that I am supporting a most worthwhile local charity”

An opportunity to give some thing back to the community, a rewarding experience and the satisfaction of knowing that someone is benefiting from my help.

I volunteered to help at St Luke’s Hospice just over a year ago.I knew the Hospice had a great reputation in the local community and decided I wanted to help play a part in supporting their work.I now work on the Reception desk for four hours every week. I really enjoy being part of a great team and I particularly take pleasure in the fact that I work alongside colleagues from a variety of backgrounds. Everyone at the hospice, whether paid staff or volunteers, works together in a friendly and supportive environment. There are many voluntary roles at the hospice so if you have any free time I recommend you get in touch and get involved.

For me it's about supporting an 'oasis' that during difficult times cares for not just the patient but the family. The compassionate nature of the staff and atmosphere makes a painful time far less traumatic. I have first hand experience of what St Luke's achieves and to give something back is rewarding and self-satisfying. Liz Scott
