Many of our volunteers have been with us a long time and have enjoyed volunteering. Volunteers get a lot out of volunteering, they enjoy being with others from a variety of backgrounds, and feel that helping in the shop is a wonderful way to give back.
Saroj Shah Rajni, Kenton Shop Volunteer says “Volunteering is very rewarding, it makes a difference to the lives of others and this makes me very happy, as the Hospice is doing such a wonderful job”
We offer you the opportunity to spend a few hours a week working with other volunteers, who are good company and become supportive friends. Shop volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and ages, so the shops are a positive environment in which to work. You are making a real change and contributing to raising vital funds for the Hospice.
We need volunteers to work in the stockroom and on the shop floor. Responsibilities include serving customers, dealing with customer enquiries, sorting out donations, preparation of donations, steaming of clothes, cleaning and tidying.
Volunteers only need to commit to one shift of four hours per week, Monday to Saturday. A full shift is 9.30am to 1.15pm or 1.15pm to 5pm. Training will be provided, so no experience is necessary. Any travel costs will be covered and volunteers get a 10 per cent discount. There are many social events for our volunteers throughout the year.
