Epping Forest is a huge open space (over 6,000 acres) which includes open grassy plains, woodland, ponds, lakes, cultivated land and settlements. It was a former Royal Hunting forest, and it has over 50,000 "Veteran" trees. The Forest is a special place and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation.
Weren't we lucky with the weather! Very many thanks to the team of helpers.. And of course to the 50 or so walkers!
