Determined walkers battle through gruelling 75-mile walk challenge for St Luke’s!
46 dedicated St Luke’s supporters trained hard to get ready for the hospice’s Annual 5 Day Walk event. Walkers battled through the heavy rain as they walked through The Devon Triangle which has stunning scenery and historical interest. The 75-mile challenge started on 27 April and walkers reached the finish line on 1 May.
Collectively the walkers raised over £20,000 for St Luke’s with sponsorship still coming in strong.
Pinner resident, Lucy Patten says, ‘I have done the St Luke's Annual Long Distance Walk since 2008. At first I was worried that I wouldn't manage it but I soon got much fitter. Many of us walkers find we are hooked and come back year after year. I meet old friends on every walk. I love the wonderful countryside in all its spring glory: bluebells, primroses and fresh new leaves and we go somewhere different every year. All this and the quiet pleasure of doing something you love in a way that helps St Luke's fund its important work.’
