Director of Quality & Governance

Contract: 2 year fixed term contract. Full-time (37.5 hours per week) although a minimum of 30 hours per week would be considered.

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 depending on experience (pro rata for part-time)

Location: St Luke’s Hospice, Harrow HA3 0YG. Hybrid working is available (3 days in the office).

St Luke’s Hospice is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee with its own trading arm, St Luke’s Hospice Charity Shops Limited. 

Our staff and volunteers are at the forefront of our work, delivering compassionate care and services for all those approaching the end of their life in the London boroughs of Harrow and Brent. We help people die with dignity and in the place of their choice. In 2022, we supported over 2000 patients and their families, with two-thirds of our clinical support provided in the community.

Our staff team of 200 is supported by almost 500 volunteers who make a hugely valuable contribution across all departments of the Hospice and in our 17 shops. About the role:

The Director of Quality & Governance is a senior leadership role providing expertise and leadership on all aspects of quality and governance at St Luke’s Hospice, and advising on compliance in key areas such as Information Governance and Health and Safety. It champions the hospice’s commitment to quality and good governance, leading the development and implementation of St Luke’s Hospice’s quality and governance strategies, frameworks, and supporting programmes. The remit of the role is broad, working with colleagues across the hospice but with a significant focus on clinical services.

There are opportunities for you to really make your mark including:

  • Influence and lead service transformation throughout the Hospice by establishing good practice and processes in quality & governance.
  • Ensure quality & governance is embedded and valued at senior level in the Hospice.
  • Ensure that the Hospice’s overall strategy, operational plan and work streams reflect good practice and processes in quality & governance.
  • Establish robust risk management and audit processes including a risk policy, framework, assessment and risk register for the whole hospice activity.
  • Introduce and ensure the use of appropriate quality improvement methodologies throughout the hospice.
  • Introduce digital systems for incident reporting (Sentinel/Voyager), training staff to use effectively.

About you:

  • Significant experience at Director level in a relevant area.
  • Substantial quality and governance experience.
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Ability to analyse data to report on quality and provide assurance to regulators.
