Yorkshire Dales - Annual Walk 2019
Event Date: 24 - 28 May 2019
The Dales Way
Come and join us to walk all or part of the route from the southern edge of the Lake District, along a series of river valleys through the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Ilkley in West Yorkshire. Take in the stunning beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and marvel at the spectacular Ribblehead Viaduct, the jewel in the crown of the Settle to Carlisle railway, all without too much hill-climbing - making the route ideal if you are new to long-distance walking.
Choose your challenge
You can choose a daily walking distance to suit you; either opt to complete the full distance (15-18 miles a day) or select a shorter option (7-12 miles a day).
We are teaming up with award winning walking holiday provider HF Holidays who, with over 100 years experience in the sector, will manage the walk and transport for the 5 days. All walkers will stay together at Newfield Hall, a historic 19th century country house, set in extensive grounds with magnificent views of the Yorkshire Dales. It is one of HF Holidays' largest Country Houses, complete with en-suite bedrooms, heated indoor pool, a bar and two comfortable lounges. It is also tailored for walkers with a boot room, drying room and Discovery Point. A selection of twin, double and single rooms are available.
The total cost payable by walkers will vary depending on your choice of accommodation but prices will start at a reasonable £400 per person for a standard twin or double room (with additional supplements for single rooms and/or upgraded room options). This includes full board and transport while you are on the walk, and coach travel to and from Harrow.
If you would like to share a twin room but haven't found anyone to share with yet just let us know - we can team you up with someone.
At St Luke's we face a rapidly increasing demand for our expert end of life care, both in people’s homes and at the hospice. We rely on your generosity for over two thirds of all our funding. Your support means we can continue to deliver free care for local people, both now and in the future.
Your event fee only covers the cost of the walk and we therefore ask that all our walkers raise £400 in sponsorship so that we can continue to provide the best end of life care to the people of Harrow and Brent.
To help you prepare for the walk and meet some of your fellow walkers, we have arranged a series of volunteer led walks. Some are very close to home and almost all are within an hour’s journey of the Harrow area. We will start with some short walks and gradually increase the distances over the weeks leading up to the annual walk. We hope you will join as many as you can to build up your fitness and stamina.
There will be no charge for registered walkers, and a suggested donation of £3 is requested from other participants. Anyone is welcome on these walks, so come along and join us. Find out more.
