Head of Communications & Marketing

Contract: Permanent – Full-time (37.5 hours per week). Part-time working may be considered. Some out-of-hours (evening and weekend work) is required.

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 pa depending on experience

Location: St Luke’s Hospice, HA3 0YG

The Head of Communications and Marketing will play a key role in leading the development and implementation of an effective communications and marketing strategy, embracing and introducing innovative techniques including enhanced digital communications. The role will take a lead role in building our external profile with stakeholders, and internally building an integrated and co-ordinated approach to communications across all hospice functions.

We are particularly seeking expertise to lead the development of a comprehensive and ambitious communications and marketing strategy, developing and embedding digital practice, increasing our brand awareness, and growing our external relations to reach a wider audience. This role will be pivotal in supporting our proactive engagement with the local community, key stakeholders and health and social care sectors. Above all, you will have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and experience of working creatively and collaboratively to inspire colleagues, trustees, and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include (See job pack for further info):

  • Provide leadership to the communications and marketing team, overseeing delivery of team objectives, and ensuring the team has the right support, skills and tools to succeed in their roles
  • Lead the development and delivery of a communications strategy that maximises opportunities to increase the hospice’s profile locally and nationally.
  • Lead on the implementation and use of research tools in order to track opinion, attitudes and behaviour of stakeholders and supporters.
  • Lead the hospice’s engagement with the local community, health and social care sector, and key stakeholders to build our profile locally and nationally.
  • Develop and oversee the communications and marketing team budget.

Requirements for the posts include:

Educated to degree level or equivalent alternatively have proven work experience with transferable skills

The ability to work as part of a team

Substantial communications, marketing and PR experience to include digital marketing and internal communications.

Implementing digital communications plans (including website content management) and managing social media channels.

Delivering marketing campaigns and projects to identified target audiences.

Leadership, with proven ability to represent the Hospice externally and internally.
