Can you support our patients through tough times?
Your donation will give people essential help with compassion and dignity
The demand for St Luke’s home care service has rocketed in 2023 as we now care for 70% more people in the home than last year.
Many more terminally ill people are in dire need of help at home. It is a tremendous struggle for families when their loved one comes home and they suddenly can’t stand or are in excruciating pain. These end of life symptoms can happen all at once making it difficult for everyone in the home to cope.
Please can you donate today, to help give people essential support and fulfil their wish to die with comfort in the place of their choice?
Marie shares how your gift will help everyone in the home.
‘Looking after my sister until the end with St Luke’s support was the least I could do. I lost my husband, my parents and she was the only one left in my life. I loved her and caring with all my heart was the only thing I could do for her. She was happy to know I was there until the end of her life.
My sister got exceptional care from St Luke’s. The staff are wonderful and I can’t fault anything.
You helped to wash her, feed her and anything else she needed. You even sent somebody on a couple of occasions so I could go out for shopping for an hour. That was great because I had nobody and I could never have left my sister on her own.
I asked what I had to pay and you told me the service is free. This is very important because I know many people who can’t afford to pay. To know you can have help without having to look into your pocket is a great relief for people.
St Luke’s are wonderful people. You are angels and I’ve been telling all my friends about you as well!’
Your kindness will give essential support and round the clock help.
St Luke’s Hospice At Home Healthcare Assistant, Jacinta (pictured) says:
‘Many of our patients tell me they feel we are rescuing them at a time which feels like an impossible situation.
This is because they can no longer do the simple things that you and I take for granted. Our home care visits help with personal care, showering, and ensure patients get good nutritious food with dignity.
When a healthcare professional like me is not there, carers like Marie can access support over the phone through our PALL24 helpline. If urgent help is needed and the NHS is unable to respond in a timely fashion, our PALL24 nurses will carry out a crisis home visit to avoid terminally ill people having unnecessary hospital admissions too.
That’s why your support of our home care service is so important.
Did you know only one in five people believe they can control where they choose to die? Not only that, but seven in ten would prefer to die at home rather than in an impersonal hospital ward (statistic sourced from Hospice UK).
Your support would be tremendously appreciated by local people who greatly rely on our services to fulfil their wish to die with compassion and dignity at home. Thank you’
The difference your donations could make
could fund 1 patient home visit, giving essential care to patients and respite to carers from a healthcare assistant like Jacinta.
could fund 1 hour of our PALL 24 helpline for patients, families and healthcare professionals, providing expert support whenever it is needed.
could fund 1 physiotherapy session at St Luke’s, helping patients to remain safe, mobile and independent in their own homes.
Please donate however much you can today, to support local people who are going through a really tough time – thank you!
