Retail Volunteering Development Manager

Contract: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £27,500 plus performance retail bonus

Location: Dalston Garden HA7 1BU

Interviews will take place on a rolling basis

An exciting opportunity for experienced Retail Volunteering Development Manager to join Retail team!

The role of the Retail Volunteering Development Manager is to take responsibility for the current and future volunteering requirements of the Retail organisation. The role will include assessing, planning and implementing strategies for meeting those requirements. This role will involve collaboration across retail, the Hospice and external organisations, to support the retail business to recruit, train and retain volunteers.

Strategy

Using expert knowledge of volunteering, work alongside the Regional Manager to design and deliver the volunteering plan to meet retail needs  

Keep up to date with all current volunteer best practice within the industry

Volunteer targets

Set and achieve the pre-agreed targets for volunteer recruitment, training and retention and be accountable for the volunteering targets

Analyse weekly/monthly volunteering figures to assess trends and make recommendations to replicate success and address under-performance

Evaluate the organisation’s effectiveness in attracting volunteers

Analyse reasons for attrition and work with line managers to put in place appropriate remedies

Design and deliver appropriate volunteer engagement scores

Recruitment

Identify priority areas for recruitment and develop/implement targeted plans to grow volunteer participation. Make recommendations and work with field staff, shop managers and support the teams to deliver.

Demonstrate and advise on the online volunteer recruitment options for Retail

Be conversant with Hospice’s digital channels to promote volunteering

Have detailed knowledge of current recruitment materials and campaigns

Be innovative in approach to grow volunteering numbers.

Support managers to source local volunteers through groups and organisations. Open new sites, and support relocations, setting targets with retail teams and report on progress and outcomes. Ensure that each outlet has a bespoke volunteering plan

Volunteer Engagement / Recognition

Host volunteer listening groups to gather insights and make recommendations

Analyse engagement surveys and design action plans.

Ensure the volunteer recognition process is in place to recognise volunteers contribution and make recommendations for improvements

Promote service awards, volunteers of the year and other celebration events.

Training / Coaching

Deliver volunteering training session to field staff and managers as required

Deliver 1:1 coaching sessions.

Make recommendations for new materials that may be required

Design and deliver presentations to engage either within the Hospice or external organisations

Promote vocational qualifications that are available to volunteers.

Volunteer retention

Identify and make recommendations to address poor retention

Support and advise the Retail teams on best practice around retaining volunteers

External Providers

Be fully up to date and knowledgeable on all current provider initiatives

Advise the Retail teams on appropriate external placements

Liaise with external providers to ensure that they comply with Hospice policy

Ensure that Hospice guidelines are adhered to when placing people and partnership agreements are in place

Support staff to contact suitable providers

Represent the Hospice at external recruitment events when required.

Communication

Able to speak with authority, knowledge and passion about all volunteering related topics

Liaise with shop/store managers to plan effective visits with specific planned outcomes

Develop links with other Hospice teams to share ideas and best practice for mutual benefit

Support with volunteer queries and complaints if required

Share personal success and best practice with the wider Hospice team.

Volunteering legislation

Be fully aware of relevant legislation such as safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion

Be fully conversant with Hospice volunteering policies and advise retail teams on their implementation

Have thorough knowledge of data protection and advise on its application to volunteers
