St Luke’s Hospice is delighted to become Charterhouse Accountants’ Charity of the Year!
6th July 2023
Caring about our community is of the utmost importance to St Luke’s Hospice so we are delighted to have formed a new partnership with Charterhouse Accountants, who also have community values at their heart. Having been in Harrow for more than 50 years, they have always supported local charities and we are delighted that, this year, they have made us their Charity of the Year. Together they will help us to reach even more people who need our support.
Their financial contributions will offer a welcome boost to the Hospice but the support does not stop there. Offering to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in with much needed volunteering assistance, their staff are already becoming familiar faces having taken part in and marshalled at our recent Midnight Walk event. Their staff will be taking part in further events across the year and they will be doing what they can to support St Luke’s at their own corporate events.
Asked why they had chosen to support St Luke’s this year, Joint Managing Directors, Raj Jiwani and David White explained, “A lot of our staff originate from around Harrow and so have had experience of St Luke’s over the years. Many of them have had connections with family members benefitting from the wonderful care of the Hospice or through their Hospice At Home support. They’ve all had situations and help from the hospice in times gone by, especially in the last two to three years with Covid. Many of them have had family members who were helped by St Luke’s so it’s very much a heartfelt thing from the team.”
Raj continued, “At Charterhouse we are very much about family. My wife’s grandmother had outreach support and my next door neighbour had hospice care in her final days. So I was very happy when our staff suggested St Luke’s this year. They are always there when you need them the most and we want to do our bit to help ensure that this remains the case.”
Their generosity extends beyond charities too. David explained, “We set up our Charterhouse Foundation about 4 years ago to help both charities and people who couldn’t afford our services in a professional capacity but needed help administrating their finances or tax affairs. We set up a pro bono service where they can access our professional services and resolve any issues they have got. We also use the Foundation to provide grants to people who might be having issues.”
Lindsey Bennister – CEO St Luke’s Hospice commented, “St Luke’s Hospice is excited to have been chosen as Charterhouse’s Charity of the Year and we are looking forward to building a strong partnership over the next 12 months which will benefit our community. Charterhouse play a huge role in supporting good causes in Harrow and the surrounding areas and we are honoured that they have chosen to help us in supporting people in Harrow and Brent with life limiting conditions this year.”
