Businesses swing into action to raise over £47,000 for St Luke’s
Businesses from across the country hit the fairways at Aldenham Golf & Country Club on Friday, raising more than £47,000 to help St Luke’s Hospice care for people with life-limiting illnesses across Harrow and Brent.
St Luke’s values the strong support of the local community, which helps the hospice continue providing expert care, comfort and dignity to patients and their families when they need it most.
84 players from 21 teams enjoyed a day of golf, friendly competition, and fundraising at the charity tournament, generously sponsored by Toureen Group. The event included 18 holes, a charity auction, and a prize-giving ceremony.
John Clifford, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Luke’s Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Toureen Group and the business community for standing with us. Their support means we can keep caring for local people and families, helping them live as well as possible through the toughest of times.”
Last year, St Luke’s Hospice cared for more than 2,000 people either in the hospice or in their own homes. Its PALL 24 team took more than 7,000 calls from people needing advice and support, and patients benefitted from more than 1,000 complementary therapy sessions to help manage pain, stress and anxiety.
Running St Luke’s Hospice costs around £30,000 each day, with only a third funded by the NHS. The rest comes from fundraising, donations and the generosity of the local community.
Liam Davies, Commercial Director at Toureen Group, said: “We’re proud to have hosted such a successful Charity Golf Day in support of St Luke’s Hospice. The day brought together great company, friendly competition and a shared commitment to making a difference. Supporting St Luke’s means so much to us. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a vital cause, and we’re honoured to help ensure this exceptional care continues for years to come.”
St Luke’s congratulated this year’s winning team, Speedy Hire, and thanked Toureen Group for their ongoing support.
