David Simmonds MP visits St Luke’s Pinner Shop to support hospice work

St Luke’s Hospice was delighted to welcome David Simmonds, MP for Ruislip, Northwood, and Pinner, to our charity shop in Pinner last Friday, 10 January.

Accompanied by Lindsey Bennister, St Luke’s Chief Executive, and Claire Stockman, Head of Retail, Mr Simmonds took the opportunity to learn more about the vital role St Luke’s Hospice plays within the community and the significant impact of our charity shops across Harrow and Brent.

During the visit, shop staff and volunteers shared their experiences, discussing the meaningful work they do, the skills they develop, and the connections they form while supporting the hospice’s mission.

Mr Simmonds also engaged with customers, learning how the shop has been a longstanding part of their lives.

One loyal customer, who has been visiting the shop for nearly three decades, shared: “I’ve been coming to this shop every week for 27 years – every Monday, after my weekly shopping. The staff, the volunteers, the hospice – all do exceptional work. Having this shop in the community made a big difference while I was raising my two kids.”

David Simmonds MP said: “Thanks to the team for a really informative visit. I was interested to see how the shop uses professional retail approaches to raise money for an important local charity. It was also pleasing to see the level of support from residents too.”

Lindsey Bennister, St Luke’s Chief Executive said: “It was a pleasure to welcome David Simmonds MP to our Pinner shop. Our volunteers and staff were delighted to have the opportunity to talk to him about the vital work of our shops in supporting St Luke’s Hospice and to introduce him to some of our loyal customers. We are very grateful for the support of our local MP in Pinner.”
