Caring for people in Harrow and Brent

Lord Popat backs Asian Foundation for Help fundraiser for St Luke’s Hospice

Lord Dolar Popat, Patron of St Luke’s Hospice, has given his support to a special fundraising evening in South Harrow on Friday 23 October, following an event last year that raised more than £70,000 for the hospice.

The evening, organised by the Asian Foundation for Help and Kingsbury Lions Club CIO, will take place at the Dhamecha Lohana Centre and feature live music from singer Supriya Joshi.

Lord Popat, who has supported St Luke’s since its earliest days, said: “I am delighted to support this special fundraising evening in support of St Luke’s Hospice.

“I am deeply proud of my association with St Luke’s over nearly four decades. I was part of the original vision for a hospice that would provide free care for people in Harrow and Brent, and today St Luke’s supports over 2,000 people and their families each year.”

“It serves two of the most diverse boroughs in the country, including a large number of our British Indian community. Its compassionate care is vital, not only for families at the most difficult time of their lives, but in reducing pressure on the NHS by caring for people on its ward and in their own homes.

“Your support on this evening will be much appreciated. Thank you.”

Founded in 1983, the Asian Foundation for Help supports charitable causes in the UK and overseas, including projects helping blind, elderly, sick and disadvantaged people. Its work includes education projects in India, promoting Gujarati culture and strengthening connections between Gujarati communities worldwide.

Last year’s event raised more than £70,000 for St Luke’s, helping the hospice continue providing free specialist palliative and end of life care to people across Harrow and Brent.
