Lord Popat of Harrow hosts St Luke’s Hospice and guests at the House of Lords
On behalf of St Luke’s Hospice, Lord Popat of Harrow hosted an afternoon tea event at the House of Lords on Wednesday 30 October. Over 80 guests including hospice supporters, trusts and foundations, and Harrow and Brent local businesses attended this historic venue.
Hospice guests included Minal and Nishan Pabari, who spoke beautifully and candidly about the positive impact St Luke’s Hospice has had on their lives. The event was also attended by two young fundraisers, who were thanked for their incredible efforts in raising vital funds for St Luke’s.
Lord Popat, St Luke’s Hospice Patron said: “I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with St Luke’s since the beginning and was pleased to once again host them in Parliament. I want to thank the team, the donors and the volunteers who keep St Luke’s going. The end of anyone’s life is never easy, but with St Luke’s the burden is shared and support is put in place both for the patient and the family.”
Lindsey Bennister, St Luke’s Hospice Chief Executive, said:
“It was an honour to share an afternoon with such dedicated supporters of palliative and end of life care. Their support enables us to care for over 2,000 people in our community each year, allowing us to bring dignity and compassion to those in need of our services. We would like to thank Lord Popat for his ongoing commitment to supporting St Luke’s Hospice.”
St Luke’s Hospice is a charity that receives a third of its funding from the NHS, relying on the generosity of its community to fund the remaining two-thirds to provide vital end of life care for Harrow and Brent.
