Rose takes on charity skydive for St Luke’s Hospice
St Luke’s Hospice healthcare assistant Rose Tallon is taking on a charity skydive to raise money for local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
The 71 year old has spent more than 50 years in education, health and social care roles. She has worked at St Luke’s Hospice for the past 11 years and says seeing the difference the hospice makes every day inspired her to take the leap.
“I’ve always up for a challenge,” said Rose. “I’ve done midnight walks, abseiled down buildings and even shaved my head to raise money for charity. I’m scared, but I know it’s for a really good cause.”
One patient has stayed with her throughout her time at St Luke’s.
An Army veteran told Rose his final wish was to visit the seaside one last time. When he became too ill to travel, she brought the seaside to him instead, filling his room with sand, shells, a paddling pool, ice cream and the sound of the waves.
“The smile on his face was unforgettable,” she said. “It reminded me that even small things can make a huge difference.”
Every donation will help St Luke’s Hospice continue supporting local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
