Second chance to run the London Marathon for St Luke’s
People across Harrow and Brent who missed out in the public ballot for the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon are being encouraged to apply for one of St Luke’s Hospice’s charity places.
For the first time in its history, the London Marathon will take place over two days – Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027 – allowing a record 100,000 people to take part. As a result, St Luke’s Hospice has been allocated additional charity places, giving more local runners the opportunity to experience one of the world’s most famous marathons while raising vital funds for hospice care.
Whether they are experienced marathon runners or taking on their first 26.2-mile challenge, successful applicants will receive dedicated fundraising support from St Luke’s, along with a Team St Luke’s running vest and plenty of encouragement every step of the way.
Every pound raised will help St Luke’s Hospice continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care to local people across Harrow and Brent. While the hospice receives some NHS funding, it relies on the generosity of the community to raise most of the £11 million needed each year to provide its services.
Krishan Solanki, Head of Public Fundraising at St Luke’s Hospice, said: “We know many people will have been disappointed not to secure a place through the public ballot, so we’re delighted that the two-day London Marathon has created this fantastic opportunity for more people to run for St Luke’s.
“Every runner who joins Team St Luke’s will be helping local families when they need us most. Whether you’re running in memory of a loved one, taking on a personal challenge or simply wanting to give something back to your community, we’ll support you throughout your journey and make sure race weekend is an experience you’ll never forget.”
Runners interested in joining Team St Luke’s can apply now for one of the hospice’s charity places. As well as taking part in one of the world’s greatest running events, they’ll be making a lasting difference to local families facing the most difficult times in their lives.
