World Hand Hygiene Day: St Luke’s Hospice supports global safety campaign

St Luke’s Hospice is proud to support World Hand Hygiene Day on 5 May as part of the global World Health Organization campaign, SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands.

This year’s theme, Action saves lives, highlights the importance of hand hygiene in protecting patients, families, visitors and healthcare staff.

At St Luke’s Hospice, hand hygiene is an important part of the safe and compassionate care we provide every day. Good handwashing practice helps prevent infection and supports the wellbeing of everyone in our care.

World Hand Hygiene Day is an opportunity to reinforce those everyday standards and remind us all that simple actions can have a real impact.

To mark the day, our Clinical Education Team and Infection Prevention Control Link Practitioners will be visiting departments to offer demonstrations, practical guidance and reminders on effective handwashing techniques. The hospice will also be sharing photographs from the day as teams come together to show their commitment to patient safety.
