Caring for people in Harrow and Brent

Thank you to SKSS Temple Harrow for Starlight Walk support

St Luke’s Hospice expresses its warmest thanks to Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan (SKSS) Temple Harrow for sponsoring this year’s Starlight Walk and providing volunteer support as part of the Temple’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Several hundred Temple members will be participating in the walk and providing volunteer marshalls, while the Kenton-based temple is the lead sponsor of the event this Saturday 27 June.

The Temple’s support, together with sponsorship from MP Brothers, Burnt Oak Builders Merchants, Mayur’s, Kingsbury Fruit & Veg Ltd, Ealing Boards & Timber, and All Bees Ltd, is helping St Luke’s prepare for one of its biggest fundraising events of the year.

Hundreds of people are expected to take part in the night-time walk, raising money to support St Luke’s Hospice services across Harrow and Brent.

Jo Pearce, Interim Chief Executive of St Luke’s Hospice, said: “We are incredibly grateful to SKSS Temple Harrow for their support of Starlight Walk 2026.

“Congratulations to everyone at the SKSS Temple Harrow on reaching their 30th anniversary. We are honoured that they have chosen to mark this milestone by supporting St Luke’s Hospice through sponsorship, volunteer marshalls and walkers taking part on the night.

“As we reach our own significant milestone of 40 years serving Harrow and Brent next year, we greatly value the Temple as a community partner and are grateful for their continued support of our work.

“The generosity of our local community continues to amaze us, and every person and organisation supporting Starlight Walk is helping us provide care for local people and families when they need it most.”

Rikin Kerai, Secretary of SKSS Temple Harrow, said:  “SKSS Temple has proudly supported St Luke’s Hospice for many years through sponsored walks, family fun days and other fundraising initiatives, raising over £120,000 to help provide specialist care and support for patients and their families. In recognition of this longstanding partnership, SKSS Temple was nominated for Community Supporter of the Year in 2022.

“This year, almost 70 SKSS Temple volunteers, including 35 trained first aiders, are supporting the walk, making the temple the largest single volunteer group involved. Almost 200 people have registered to walk as part of Team SKSST, reflecting the organisation’s strong commitment to selfless service and community engagement.

“SKSS Temple looks forward to continuing its support of St. Luke’s Hospice and helping this vital local charity provide outstanding care for years to come.”

There is still time for people to sign up for Starlight Walk and help raise vital funds for local hospice care. Participants can walk in memory of a loved one, celebrate someone special or simply support their local hospice.
