Middlesex Freemasons Festival donates £15K to St Luke’s Hospice
St Luke’s Hospice has thanked Middlesex Freemasons after receiving a £15,000 grant through the Middlesex 2031 Festival to support its Inpatient Unit.
The funding will provide four months of end of life care from a specialist palliative care nurse within St Luke’s busy 12-bed IPU at Kenton Grange.
Representatives from Middlesex Freemasons visited St Luke’s Hospice this week to present the donation.
Masonic organisations have given more than £200,000 in grants to the hospice over the past 20 years. During that time, Middlesex Freemasons have supported a wide range of capital and revenue projects across the hospice, including IT improvements and refurbishment work designed to improve patient comfort, safety and dignity.
St Luke’s IPU provides specialist care, free of charge, for people across Harrow and Brent. Patients come to the unit for symptom control, respite care and specialist end-of-life support when care elsewhere can no longer meet their needs.
St Luke’s Hospice is only partly funded by the NHS and relies heavily on the generosity of the local community through donations, fundraising and sales from its charity shops.
Jo Pearce, Interim CEO of St Luke’s Hospice, said: “We truly value the continued support of Middlesex Freemasons and are incredibly grateful for their generosity and commitment to our local community. Partnerships like this help us continue providing compassionate specialist care to local people and their families at some of the most difficult times in their lives.”
Alfie Buckland, Provincial Grand Charity Steward for Middlesex Freemasons, said: “We are immensely proud to support the remarkable work of St Luke’s Hospice and the dedicated professionals who provide such compassionate care to patients and their families. Middlesex Freemasons have supported St Luke’s for many years, and we are delighted that the Middlesex 2031 Festival can continue that tradition.
“This donation has been made possible through the extraordinary generosity of our members, Lodges and Chapters across the Province of Middlesex. Their support enables us to make a meaningful difference within our local communities and help outstanding charities such as St Luke’s continue delivering vital care and support to those who need it most.”
