Community raises £2,500 for St Luke’s at Shradh Bhajans
On Saturday, 20 September, a special bhajan event was held at Harrow Masonic Centre to mark Shradh (Pitru Paksha), raising an incredible £2,500 in support of St Luke’s Hospice.
Shradh, also known as Pitru Paksha, is a sacred 14-day period in the Hindu calendar when Hindus honour and remember their ancestors with prayers and gratitude.
Around 130 members of the community came together for an evening of devotional bhajans, led by local singer Sneha Mukunji and her team, creating a serene and uplifting atmosphere.
The ceremonial opening of the Yamunaji Loti, a vessel of holy water symbolising purity and divine connection, was a moving part of the service.
We were delighted to be joined by our Patron, Lord Popat, as well as Meg Lustman, St Luke’s Chair of Trustees, and Jo Pearce, Director of Fundraising. The event was also live-streamed, reaching viewers as far as Canada and Kenya.
St Luke’s trustee, Neel Radia, led the event, supported by fundraiser Nikita Raval, Bindi Radia (daughter of a patient who was cared for by St Luke’s), and Minal Pabari (a current patient), who all played a key part in its success.
We are honoured by this wonderful support and extend our heartfelt thanks to the organisers, sponsors, performers, and everyone who attended or joined online. Your generosity helps us continue to provide vital care for local people and their families.
